FAQ
We field a lot of questions from prospective Planet Sub franchise members, and we’ve collected them all in one place for your convenience!
1) How much money do I need to be considered for a Planet Sub franchise?
This is often one of the first questions folks ask us. How much does it cost? Generally speaking, we like for people to have at minimum $100,000 of liquid capital, with a net-worth of between $300,000 – $500,000. Depending on your unique situation, as well as the territory you are interested in, this may be somewhat flexible.
2) How much are the royalties and fees?
5% of gross sales, and 1-3% of gross sales for advertising fees.
3) What are the average annual sales of a Planet Sub Store?
We provide you information on average sales volumes for our stores in Item 19 of our Planet Sub Franchise Disclosure Document. If you are interested in receiving this information, start by filling out the “Franchise With Us” form located on the right side of this web page. You are also encouraged to contact our current franchisees and ask them about their experiences with us. To reach us directly, email: franchising@planetsub.com
4) What cities are available?
Planet Sub is currently opening all over the United States. Please contact us immediately to find out if your city or state is still available! Target markets include: Atlanta, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Colorado Springs, San Antonio, Houston, Tulsa, and Columbus.
5) I don’t have any restaurant or construction background…is that a problem?
It’s not a problem at all! We have a comprehensive 30 day training program, which will really empower you to operate your restaurant! Our professional architectural partners will help to design the store layout for you, our real estate partners will help find a local broker in your area with experience rolling out national brands like ours, and we will also help every step of the way through the construction process. Our goal is to get you open in a A+ location while focusing on keeping your costs as low as possible.
6) Is it hard to learn how to make bread from scratch?
In your 30 day training process, you get to make bread every single day! It is definitely a labor of love, and there is an art to making perfect bread, but our goal is to have you ready to make bread like a pro before you ever open your store.
7) What kind of space should I be looking for?
This is again, a bit of a tricky question. A lot depends on the unique circumstances around your particular market. The real estate process is arguably the most important factor in determining your potential success with a Planet Sub franchise.
When we enter in to new markets we create a strategic roll out plan with the help our Red Brokerage and a local partner broker. Often times sites we want to be in are under construction or in new developments.
Another thing we look for is frontage and visibility; our buildout has been designed to be eye-catching, and store frontage is essential to showcase the architectural features. We typically approve locations with 1,500 – 2,200 sq. ft.
